Tung Oil Finish
Tung Oil Finish is a clear natural penetrating oil that dries to become a hard, permanent finish. Extremely easy to apply, just use your fingers or a cloth to rub it on the wood. It goes on thin and smooth, and soaks into the grain of the wood to protect from within. It dries to a natural look, and is a wonderful alternative to varnishes and lacquers due to it's durability and ease of use. Ordinary finishes can't blend in repairs, but you can repair a scratch by rubbing a little bit of tung oil on the damaged area.
- Tung Oil seals and protects in one easy step
- Warm, natural hand-rubbed appearance
- Protects from within, will not crack, chip or peel
- Looks great on any type of wood

WWD Tung Oil Finish covers a lot of area with a small amount of oil. You can apply it with a lint-free cloth, good quality brush, or some people prefer to use their fingers or a rubber, dish washing style glove. In cool temperatures, the heat from your fingers warms the oil and allows it to flow more smoothly on the wood. We prefer to apply the initial 1-2 coats with a brush (which is quickest), and the final coats with a lint-free cloth. Most people can finish a medium sized table and 4 chairs with 1 bottle when applied by hand, or 2 bottles when applied by cloth.
The amount of shine depends on the number of coats of Tung Oil Finish that you apply. Normally the first and second coats soak deep into the wood and give a low shine, natural look. The third coat usually builds on the surface and the shine increases as you increase the number of coats. Maximum shine is normally between satin and semi-gloss. The exact look depends on how dry the wood is, so experiment in an inconspicuous area first. If you wish to change the color of the wood, simply apply your favorite stain on the bare wood, followed by the tung oil as your final layer of protection. It lasts for many years and doesn't need recoating.
